Brand Manager

Mr Ames is a newly established brand working as a division of Reginald Ames Tea Merchants and Brokers. We are a Tonbridge based, independent business with a strong focus on Ethical Sourcing, Sustainable Packaging and Superb Quality (that needn’t cost the earth). Our teas have a strong local following and we want to show the rest of Kent and surrounding areas, what we have to offer.

We are looking for a well organised, forward-thinking and confident Brand Manager with a passion for Superb Quality Products and Customer Service. You will be strategic in your thinking, energetic in your approach and driven to succeed by putting our customer's needs at the forefront of everything you do.

All training will be given, including significant tea tasting with our buyers and learning exactly why our teas are truly so unique and offer so much more than any other similar products in the market.

Skillset and Prior Experience:

Must Have:
  • Able to identify with the Mr Ames tone of voice
  • Confident with great communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Well organised and able to multitask
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Moderate experience with social media platforms
  • Able to work alone and integrate with the wider team
  • Driving Licence

  • Prior experience in sales/marketing of FMCG
  • Experience in servicing Farm Shops, Deli’s and Independent shops
  • Experience of trade shows and events

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all our customers are kept 100% satisfied with our products and service
  • To drive awareness and visibility of our brand around Kent
  • Increase sales to strategic sites around Kent and managing a list of targeted sites
  • Plan strategic initiatives and NPD, to grow the brands product offering
  • Fully understand, integrate with and manage the brand identity and tone of voice
  • Manage daily communications via social media, email, telephone and in-person
  • Manage all strategic marketing campaigns, brand collaborations, paid social media and overall PR
  • Oversee all content creation
  • Manage trade shows

A Typical Week:

  • ½ day in our Tonbridge office, strategic planning, tasting teas, NPD
  • 1 day in our Tonbridge office, managing Social Media campaigns
  • 3 days on the road around Kent, visiting current and potential customers
  • ½ day admin


  • Salary would start at £25,000, with a rewarding bonus structure linked to company performance and agreed targets
  • Initially we would provide funds for a car allowance and mileage, however longer-term, a branded vehicle would be provided
  • Mobile Phone and Laptop will also be provided
